Alone in the crowd

Alone in the crowd

I can’t seem to find which hurts more,
To be the only one who leaves
Or to be the only one who stays.
No one seems to notice when one leaves the crowd,
No one cares to think about the one who stayed.
We have nothing more in common to care.

Which gives more pain?
To be the invisible
To be the unnoticed
To be the unacknowledged
To be the unloved
Or to know how it feels to be loved
To feel precious and cared for
Then feel the pain of its absence.

Does it hurt a lot more,
To have a million admirers
But not a single one who truly cares.

We are all in pain,
‘Cause we were alone in the crowd,
From the beginning of time.
‘Cause we are different people
Trying to share the same space
Loving similar things at the same time.
Thinking we love each other
That we were a part of the crowd
When we actually weren’t.
We were just selfish people
With selfless love for our own happiness.
Living in the mirage of a crowd
Between life and death.
